There are two types of backups you can take of your site and if you own a regular html site, a directory backup is all you need. A directory backup is backup of all the physical files such as index.html or index.php and of all the files and folders that the site uses. Without the directory files, you have no website at all and if you are making a backup, make sure that you get every single file there is in that directory.

So how do you download a directory backup? If you have cpanel, you can use the backup features of it and download the home directory backup very easily. But if you want certain directory backups, you can download through an FTP manager. I would recommend AceFTP3 because I use it and so far it is one of the best I have used. Just move all the files from the window with your internet files to the window with your computer files. Let it do its thing and you just wait and see.
