Big Companies should always pack themselves with some good servers. If a company like Google lagged up their site if more than a 100 people logged in at the same time, they would either go out of business, or go out of business. Either way, a company like Google with a very popular site, will not win this issue in any way.

If you have a website where you get a few thousand to maybe a million visitors a day and where thousands of people come by and settle on your server at the same time all the time, you should always get a server that can handle it all. The last thing you want is your members and visitors to leave just because you were too cheap to get yourself a new server.
