You may have not noticed, but earlier today, Rhemaranch was moved to an upgraded server. The process was quick and painless, but the DNS changes took a while. If you came into the blog looking at a page that says “this site has been suspended” then you were still viewing the old server. I suspended the site on the old server and tried to forward all traffic but can’t always mess with DNS.
This server already feels so much faster and better. Hopefully it helps in increasing your pleasure in visiting Rhemaranch as we head towards a 1000 total posts for this blog!

If you follow the stock market, you should know that today is the first day of the last quarter of 2011. Lots of “of’s”. But that’s what it is. Today wasn’t such a great day though. The stock market saw losses but one company that did see a huge gain is Eastman Kodak. They gained more than 71% today which is crazy. Of course their stocks aren’t worth as much as they used to so the gains are much more massive. But it was a gain nonetheless.
The last quarter is full of the holidays. I hope everything gets better because I could use a lot of sales and I wouldn’t mind extra income to help me buy things at those sales.

Yesterday was Labor Day and the weekend felt a little too long. Last week we had Hurricane Irene here in New York City and this week was kind of boring to be honest. I didn’t really do much other than study for my classes and watch some TV.

Yesterday was my first day of Graduate school. So far I’ve only had one class and it’s been pretty good. I am a full time student (still) and I will be attending 5 classes a week this semester. I am hoping that it doesn’t kill me.
If you recently graduated from college, you should think about getting your Master’s degree in anything. Having that extra degree makes you brandable and companies are looking for young individuals who are “masters” at things. If you’re currently not enrolled, look to get enrolled for the Spring 2012 semester.

After the Markets closed yesterday, CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs, Announced that he is resigning from his post. It was a huge shocker to a lot of people but he admitted that he is no longer able to do his job due to his health. After his announcement, the value of Apple dropped more than 5% in after hours trading and continues to drop today.
Who’s in charge now?
Tim Cook, the old COO (Chief Operating Officer). Let’s hope that he can fill Steve Jobs’ shoes and put confidence back in the investors of apple.
I’m sure people will miss him, especially people who are thankful for Apple products. I also wish him luck on recovering.

If you live in NYC and were indoors, most likely, you felt the little Earthquake that shook our City. It happened roughly an hour ago and I’ve waited on the news before posting this blog post. It seems there was a 5.8 earthquake around Virginia and the Washington DC area. It was felt all over the east Coast, including Canada.
So far, no major damage has been reported. We’re not used to getting earthquakes like this in the East Coast but we did today. It was a little scary but it was an experience. I’ve never felt an earthquake before because I’ve always lived away from fault lines and places known to get earthquakes. It was an interesting feeling.
I hope that the quake didn’t cause any damage and it probably didn’t since it’s magnitude was so low.
