When you hear a webmaster talk about doing some Search Engine Optimization on his website, most likely he is trying to rank higher on Google. Google is the largest and richest search engine on the internet today. Just over 9 years old and already one of the biggest company in the world with branches in almost every country that allows it. Google is the most used search engine in the world and thats why everyone is always trying to rank higher on it.

Google tends to bring in a lot more visitors to your site more than any other search engine. I can testify with that because if I use my forum as an example, about 80% of all search engine traffic comes from google itself. About 10% from yahoo and just spread the remaining 10% among the hundreds of other search engine on the internet. So if you want to discuss SEO with someone, make sure you know that you are talking about google, unless of course you want to rank high in msn.
