I take backups of all my sites very often, especially my active forum and my active blogs such as Rhemaranch and Old Papers. And from time to time, usually every three to four months, I move all those backups into another folder to sort them all our. And as time passes by, I delete all those backups and keep the newer ones that have been piling on.

You can follow the same method to keep your website backups in tact and organized. I’ve been doing this for as long as I can remember and it has gotten me through some rough times when it came to sorting out the whole thing. But if I do convert to another forum or blog software, I make sure to keep at least one backup file of the old version to remind me of what it had looked like in the past.
