If you own a forum you probably want to have some restrictions and rules that you want your members and your staff to follow. Without rules and restrictions, they can do anything they please and that is something you do not want. For example, on my Gamers Forum, you cannot play games in the arcade until you have 10 posts. I think that’s fair and so does everyone else.

Having rules and restrictions around a forum keeps it out of chaos and keeps your old members posting. If you have someone posting freely insulting all the members and staff, the ones that feel insulted have a higher chance of leaving the forum, something you do not want. You should also watch out on how strict you are with the rules, because if you set something like, no more than 50 posts can be made in a 24 hour period, then you have a higher chance to lose more members. Think about what rules you want to have and implement it in a way that others will follow without having complications.
