How long should you keep your backup?

When you backup your websites, you should always pick a new name rather than just overwrite it. That is just how I do it an in my opinion you should keep a backup for 90 days before deciditing to overwrite it or delete it. Why? Well I really don’t know why I do this but at times I’d like to test on my forum or blog when it was older or before I upgraded it from a previous version. This is just how I roll.

If you converted your CMS to something else, then you should probably keep a last and final backup of the database of the previous CMS. I have kept them all because I want to later on see how far my sites have come from its previous versions. I guess I keep it as proof and for future reference. This is how I handle my backups and I am not necessarily saying that you should do it too but it’s just a thought.
